We join our brothers and sisters in Boston, MA, and other members of our national community in shared grief over the tragic, senseless bombings at the Boston Marathon on 15 April 2013. Our prayers and thoughts are with the families of those who grieve, whose families and friends have been injured and for those who wait to hear from or hear about loved ones and friends as well as first responders, law enforcement, firefighters, government officials, citizens and others who helped out amidst the horror, shock and trauma of this moment. We pray are for healing, palliation, grace and the ministry of presence in a time in which words cannot capture the terror that shattered a celebratory event. We also commend the many courageous and kind acts of so many in who rushed to help injured individuals in the immediate aftermath of the blasts: acts of hope struggling in response to horror.
If you, as a member of the Cornell community, have been affected in any way by the bombings and desire counseling, please contact us at Cornell United Religious Work: 607-255-6004 or at kic2@cornell.edu. If you desire counseling from Chaplains of a particular religion or denomination we can put you in touch with the respective Chaplain. CURW seeks to be supportive in any way we can during such a time as this.
