On a crisp November Night, nine young men huddled closely against theevening chill underneath an old covered bridge. The men spoke in low voices about starting a group for study and friendship, with ties that that would bind them through life. These students formed the Delta Phi fraternity. Today, our Brethren no longer huddle, we walk proud - the hearth at Llenroc and the strength of the Brotherhood keeps us warm. Our circle of individuals no longer whispers, each Brother is outspoken with character and dignity. Yet we are still guided by the founding ideals of friendship, morality, and scholarship. Our closely-knit Brotherhood remains driven by our tradition, spirit, and brotherly love. The elegant mansion known as Llenroc ("Cornell" spelled backwards) is the last existing building associated with the personal life of Ezra Cornell. Regarded as Ithaca's finest residence, it is an outstanding and exceptionally well-preserved example of high style masonry Gothic Reviva architecture. Llenroc remained in the Cornell family's possession until 1911, when the house was sold to the Delta Phi fraternity. The house is currently listed on the National Register of Historic Estates.
