Founded in 1892, the Alpha-Kappa Chapter of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity is a symbol of leadership and academic excellence at Cornell University. Through Fellowship, Leadership, Scholarship and Service we aim to become the best men that we can be and represent our Fraternity and our University in the highest manner possible. Whether it is on the sports fields or in a classroom; leading student organizations or giving back to the community; we at Kappa Sigma strive to complete the educational experience of Cornell University by bringing together and sharing with each other a diverse collection of backgrounds and interests. It is our experiences together as brothers in the Kappa Sigma that truly complements our education and creates such powerful lifelong bonds.
Built in 1903, our chapter house sits on a prominent place on University Avenue a minutes walk away from West Campus. Throughout our history here, some of Cornell’s most famous names have been a part of our chapter, including David Fletcher Hoy, for whom Hoy field is named, and the Olin brothers, Spencer T. and John M., whose legacy can be remembered in the form of Olin Library. As a house we have dedicated ourselves to service in the community with a strong lineup of annual philanthropy events including “Pizza for Parkinson’s” and the brand new event we will be running with Cornell, the Battle of the Freshmen 14.
