Phi Kappa Tau, one of Cornell University’s most revered brotherhoods, has been on campus since the beginning of the 20th century. After a brief hiatus in 1995, the Alpha Tau chapter of Phi Kappa Tau re-colonized in the spring of 2000 and was re-chartered in the fall of 2001. Eleven men, in the spring of 2000, re-founded the chapter here with the intention to create a fraternity that was unique in every aspect Greek life. It would instill the ideals of brotherhood without hazing; promote worthwhile philanthropic events on campus as well as the public; and create a respectable social scene amongst sororities and fraternities. The brotherhood is now 45 members strong and continues its commitment to success by being voted “Most Outstanding Fraternity of 2000/2001 and 2001/2002” by Cornell University. Of the many charitable events we organize, the most prestigious and enjoyable event is Phi-Tug, a tug-of-war competition between fraternities and sororities on campus.
Benefits of the event go to the Phi Kappa Tau national philanthropy, Hole in the Wall Gang Camps. These are summer camps designed to provide an enjoyable atmosphere for terminally ill children. “The Force of Many, the Power of One.” This one quote encompasses the passion with which this fraternity carries out the many obligations and endeavors we pursue. At Phi Kappa Tau, we believe in the spirit of brotherhood in its most ideal sense. If you are looking for a place to meet people and make lasting bonds of friendship, Phi Kappa Tau is where you will find it.
