About:

At the inception of Delta Sigma Theta in 1913 at Howard University, the founders envisioned an organization of college women pledged to serious endeavor and community service. These youthful members demonstrated a vital concern for social welfare, academic excellence and cultural enrichment, de-emphasizing the social side of sorority life. Their ideas of scholarship and service have withstood the test of time and continue to prevail as Delta Sigma Theta is a public service organization dedicated to scholarship, service, and sisterhood. In 1930, Delta Sigma Theta was incorporated. The record of incorporation is filed in the Congressional Library in Washington, D.C. Today, there are over 250,000 members and more than 850 chapters across the world including the U.S., Liberia, Korea, West Germany, Japan and other areas. Please visit our national web site (www.deltasigmatheta.org) for information on Founders, National Programs, and Membership information.
