Living on your own can be fun and rewarding. However, there are many hidden and unexpected costs associated with renting an apartment. 

Questions to ask yourself :

1. I receive financial aid, what happens when I move off campus ?

2. How much does an apartment cost ?

3. What are some of the additional expenses that I should consider ?

     - Utilities      -Internet  -Cable   -Phone
     - Laundry    - Food    -Parking - Entertainment
     - Household items/decor-
                -- Linens, dishes, cleaning supplies/vacuum cleaner/mop,
                    appliances (toaster/coffee pot), curtains,
                    posters/pictures), etc. 


4. Can afford I go away for Spring Break ?

5. How much do I spend on eating out ?

6. Public transportation costs/private vehicle & gas ?

All of these questions can be answered by creating a BUDGET.  A budget will help you determine if you can afford to do all of these things and still live off-campus.
