LGBT Resource Center interns and volunteers are responsible for supporting a learning environment that contributes to student development, especially around issues of gender and sexuality. The working philosophy of the LGBT Resource Center emphasizes the value of maintaining an inclusive work environment that both thrives through the unique qualities of individual staff members and provides students with opportunities for personal growth and professional development.
Each year, we seek individuals with strong commitments to social justice issues, dedication to cultural awareness, and a strong responsibility for their own personal growth. In addition to the ability to perform the specific duties and tasks of each student intern/volunteer role, these positions are best suited to people who are willing and able to develop positive relationships with groups and individuals, will model openness and active learning, and will maintain the highest standards of basic Center services.
The LGBT Resource Center will begin hiring interns for the 2018/2019 Academic year at the end of July. Check back for more information.
The LGBT Resource Center offers two types of volunteer opportunities. Office Team: Volunteers assist with the general operations of the LGBT Resource Center, greet visitors and help create opportunities for community engagement in the center. Event Team: Volunteers assist with set up and break down at events and programs hosted or co-hosted by the LGBT Resource Center. Event volunteers's also assist with LGBT Resource Center Tabling at various resource events that help build visibility for the center.
