The Office of the Dean of Students recognizes outstanding students and programs through annual awards, scholarships, prizes, and grants.

Merrill Presidential Scholars

Merrill Presidential Scholars are graduating seniors who have demonstrated outstanding scholastic achievement, strong leadership ability, and potential for contributing to society. At the end of the spring semester, the scholars and their distinguished Cornell professors and high school teachers are brought together and honored at a convocation hosted by Cornell's president and attended by college deans.

James A. Perkins Prize for Interracial Understanding & Harmony

At a special ceremony each spring, this $5,000 prestigious prize honors the professor, student, administrator, or program making the most significant contribution to furthering the ideals of the Cornell community while respecting the values of racial diversity.

Student Organization Awards and Recognition (SOAR)

Late in the spring semester, usually around mid-late April, be on the lookout for SAO's 'Call for Nominations.' The annual awards ceremony recognizes outstanding students, organizations, programs, and staff members.
