The Straight

As one of the United States first college unions, this Gothic structure was modeled after Hart House at the University of Toronto and bears the name of a Cornell alumnus whose wife was instructed to use his money,”...to make Cornell a more human place.” It is now considered to be the hub of the university campus activities.

Willard Straight Hall supports the events and functions of the many units within the Office of the Dean of Students and building services such as:

• Student Support
• Off-Campus Housing Office

WSH Front Desk Services include:

At 103,000 square feet, and 6 floors, the Straight also is home to the Administrative Office of the Dean of Students, Kent Hubbell, as well as Dining Facilities, (Ivy Room, Okenshields, Cascadeli) and the Cornell Cinema.

WSH also holds the WSH Art Gallery, the International Lounge, Music/TV Room, the 5th Floor Lounge, 3 meeting Rm. Lofts, and the North Room (a dance studio).
