Graduate-Professional Students

Nearly 85% of Cornell's graduate students live off campus.  Ithaca provides a variety of  housing options. However, no matter how many options there are, the Off Campus Housing Office encourages you to carefully assess your expected needs.  The OCHO developed materials to help you focus on identifying what your needs may be and how to seek housing that will satisfy your needs. 

With this in mind, the OCHO provides assistance with seeking and securing a comfortable living situation. You can find alot of information on our website, including housing selection checklists, a moving in/out checklist, lease education, housemate selection process, sample housemate agreement, transportation/parking links, important health and safety information, and access to information about the City of Ithaca.

However, before you begin, you will need to determine whether On or Off Campus living will best suit your needs. When considering On Campus housing be sure to keep in mind that there are a limited number of units available, and they fill up quickly. 15% of graduate students live on campus, currently.

When choosing Off-Campus Housing,  here are a few thing to keep in mind when searching for graduate/professional housing :



  •  Learn about our your surroundings . Ithaca is a city of 30,000 year round residents, located at the south end of Cayuga Lake, one of the beautiful Finger Lakes of Central New York.   •   Develop a Budget

  •   If your apartment resides within the City of Ithaca, be sure that it has a Current Certificate of Compliance.  Your can contact the City of Ithaca for this information at the City of Ithaca Building Department .
